Why do you run? I love to run. It's gift from God, every aspect of running, from being alone with my thoughts on a long run to testing my limits in a race.
The best thing about being a Hansons-Brooks athlete? The best thing about being a Brooks-Hansons athlete is that I get to train with some of the nation's best marathoners and, of course, I get to hear Pat Rizzo's stories.
How have you improved since joining the Hansons-Brooks ODP?
When did you start running? I began running in 7th grade track.
What challenges do you face as an athlete? Three words: Chocolate Chip Cookies. Also, I've been out of competitive running for a while, before I came to Hansons it had been close to a decade since I'd been serious about training and racing.
What do you like to do when you're not running? I like to spend time with my family, my wife Amanda, and our son Caleb. We like live music and movies. I also enjoy team "get togethers" so that Kyle, Reneau, and I can shred on our acoustic guitars for everybody.
Favorite event: I love watching a good 4x400, but I can’t break 60, so I'd say my own favorite event is the marathon.
Favorite workout: Long runs with marathon pace at the end = bread and butter.
Favorite pre- and post-race foods: Pre: Spaghetti with meatballs, Post: Cheeseburger with fries doused in vinegar and salt. Mmm, that's the real reason I run.
